The DPA 4099 CORE+ is a supercardioid instrument microphone engineered for capture of acoustic detail across orchestral, rock, and studio environments. DPA's CORE+ technology underpins a design that handles loud sound pressure levels without distortion whilst rejecting off-axis noise, making it suitable for both close-mic'd instruments and live stage deployment. The model ships with a violin clip as standard and accommodates DPA's expanded instrument clip programme for flexible mounting across strings, woodwinds, brass, and percussion.
The CORE+ architecture delivers a 10 dB wider dynamic range and 3 dB higher clipping point than its predecessor, coupled with an improved shock mount that isolates structure–borne vibration from stage platforms and instrument bodies. The redesigned gooseneck mount (G-MOUNT) enables single–handed operation and refined positioning accuracy, whilst the MicroLock® connector ensures reliable cable attachment across wireless systems. IP58 certification guarantees durability in touring and outdoor settings, and the refined foam windscreen minimises breath and handling noise without reflective colouration.
The 4099 CORE+ shines in multi–instrument applications where a single capsule must transition between sources without sonic character shift. Available as a standalone unit or in purpose–built rock and classical kits (4– and 10–piece configurations), it scales from intimate studio overdubs to full ensemble reinforcement. The modular clip system has remained DPA's defining strength since 2008, and these refinements to mounting stability and vibration isolation address the practical demands of touring musicians and session recordists alike.
