DiMarzio's PAF® 36th Anniversary Bridge pickup captures the legendary magic of vintage humbuckers whilst pushing beyond mere replication. Drawing inspiration from Seth Lover's original Patent Applied For design, these pickups embody the essential characteristics that define great vintage tone: a soft magnetic field, sweet harmonic content, and the perfect balance between warmth and clarity that allows seamless transitions from clean to distorted through pick attack alone.

The development process centred around Larry DiMarzio's own 1959 cherry sunburst Gibson® Les Paul® as the sonic reference point. This particular instrument's exceptional sound stems from the complete integration of all its components, not just the pickups. DiMarzio replicated the weaker magnetic field to extend string vibration whilst maintaining focused attack and articulation that rivals single-coil definition.

Advanced manufacturing techniques include computer-controlled winding of 42-gauge custom-coated wire to achieve precise frequency response, followed by dipping in a proprietary formula that eliminates squeal and microphonics. The nickel-silver cover features new plating technology that surpasses the magnetic transparency of original vintage units. The PAF® 36th Anniversary Bridge runs hotter than its neck counterpart and suits both traditional set-neck 24¾" scale guitars and tremolo-equipped bolt-on instruments with equal effectiveness.
