High-gain amplifiers work exceptionally well with the HS-3™, though the quintessential setup remains an overdrive pedal paired with a Marshall® amplifier. This combination provides enhanced sustain and distortion, with the added benefit of dramatic clean-up when the pedal is disengaged. The pickup performs admirably across all three positions on a Strat®, producing a slightly warmer tone than typical Strat® configurations.
