Steve’s Special™ breaks the mould of conventional high-output humbucker design by taking a completely different approach to power distribution. Unlike traditional hot pickups that concentrate their energy in a narrow frequency band for maximum punch, this innovative pickup uses a patented dual-resonance system to spread its sound across a much broader spectrum. The result is a pickup that boosts bass and treble frequencies whilst pulling back the midrange, creating a unique tonal signature that won’t push high-gain amplifiers into unwanted overdrive as readily as conventional designs.

This broad frequency response makes Steve’s Special™ particularly versatile for players who need both clean chord work and fast lead playing. Individual notes maintain their clarity even under heavy distortion, preventing the smearing that often occurs with traditional hot pickups during rapid passages. Clean tones take on an almost “hi-fi” quality thanks to the enhanced bass and treble response, whilst the scooped midrange keeps pick attack crisp and defined.

The pickup performs exceptionally well in coil-splitting and Dual Sound® configurations, making it ideal for clean applications. For lead work, Steve’s Special™ pairs brilliantly with midrange-heavy amplifiers – the pickup’s natural mid-scoop balances the amp’s character whilst maintaining note separation during legato passages, even under substantial overdrive conditions.
