Building on the foundation of the Virtual Vintage 2.1 it replaces, the Area 58™ incorporates several performance improvements that aren’t immediately visible. Dynamic range and string definition have been significantly enhanced, resulting in better clean chord work and more articulate overdriven solos. The pickup responds remarkably well to height adjustments – position it closer to the strings for a fatter, slightly compressed blues character, or back it away for crystal-clear tones.

The Area 58™ addresses two major shortcomings of vintage pickups: excessive magnet pull and noise. With dramatically reduced magnetic interference and virtually no hum, it outperforms even full-size humbuckers in noise cancellation.
