Dave Smith's reimagined Prophet '08 poly synth returns as the Prophet Rev2 desktop module, packing twice the polyphony and a host of powerful new features into a compact analog powerhouse. This desktop version maintains all the controls and ease of use of its keyboard counterpart whilst sounding absolutely identical on the inside. The Prophet Rev2 retains every key feature from the original Prophet '08 but significantly expands upon them with double the mod matrix, waveshape modulation across all waveforms, digital effects per layer in stacked or split voice mode, and a polyphonic step sequencer per layer.

With 16 voices at your disposal, you can allocate them however suits your playing style — play complex two-handed chords via MIDI controller, stack two 8-voice sounds for massive textures, or split your controller into two completely separate 8-voice instruments. The bold, punchy sound comes from 2/4 pole, low-pass, resonant Curtis filters per voice, the same filters used in classic instruments of the 70s and 80s. A standout new feature is waveshape modulation, allowing you to vary the "pulse width" of any waveform using the Shape Mod control, either manually or via LFO for continuously shifting timbre.

The comprehensive effects section includes reverb, delays (standard and BBD), chorus, phase shifter, ring modulation, and distortion, with different effects applicable to each layer in stacked or split modes. The expanded Mod Matrix now features 8 individual slots with numerous sources and destinations, whilst the polyphonic step sequencer handles up to 64 steps and 6 notes per step. The knob-per-function front panel provides instant access to all functions, complemented by 512 factory programs and 512 user programs, all housed in a compact desktop unit with integrated power supply, USB support, and crisp OLED display.
