D'Addario's XPND Core is a fixed–format pedalboard engineered as a modular foundation rather than a finished product. Unlike traditional rigid designs, this platform acknowledges that signal chains evolve; the Core model serves as your entry point, with the option to unlock full adjustability later via the expansion kit. The cable management system is built into the architecture, not retrofitted, which distinguishes it from conventional pedalboards that treat routing as an afterthought.
Two footprints are available: the PW-XPNDCORE-01 measures 13.25" wide by 5.5" long for compact setups, whilst the PW-XPNDCORE-02 extends to 16.7" wide by 12.5" long for players running larger chains. Both models ship with pre–mounted hook and loop strips rated for secure pedal placement during transport and live use. The construction prioritises lightweight materials without sacrificing rigidity, and assembly is required on arrival—no pre–soldered cables or proprietary connectors complicate the setup process.
The upgrade path matters here. Players who start with Core can transition to the fully adjustable XPND platform without replacing the base, meaning initial investment doesn't lock you into a fixed topology. This approach suits musicians whose gain staging or effects order tends to shift across recording sessions or touring schedules, as reconfiguration doesn't demand a complete pedalboard rebuild.
