Melbourne's Cole Clark Guitars has cracked the code on creating a true dual-purpose instrument with their groundbreaking 'True Hybrid' range. Following the success of their 2019 dual output acoustics featuring built-in humbuckers, the company's research and development team pushed further to bridge the gap between acoustic and electric guitars without compromising either sound.

The True Hybrid models feature a thinline design incorporating Cole Clark's world-leading PG3 acoustic pickup alongside a completely independent electric output. Players can choose from multiple pickup configurations including two humbuckers, three single coils, or a combination of humbucker with two singles, giving musicians genuine versatility for modern touring demands.

The real innovation lies in solving a fundamental problem that has plagued hybrid guitars - the volume imbalance caused by magnetic pickups only detecting the nickel core of phosphor bronze acoustic strings. Cole Clark's electronics specialist Paul Gale developed patent-pending technology that adjusts the strength of each pole piece in the magnetic pickup, perfectly balancing the output across all six strings when using phosphor bronze strings.

This three-year development process also incorporates Finite Element Analysis, a structural engineering technique typically used to identify and resolve performance issues. The result is an instrument that functions equally well as both an acoustic and electric guitar, now available for musicians ready to explore this new hybrid approach.
