At just 0.36kg and 60mm wide, the Celestion CDX1-1412 is a neodymium-magnet compression driver sized for portable cabinets where every gram counts. The 1-inch (25mm) throat exit and 8Ω rated impedance slot it into compact PA tops and monitors, with a 106dB sensitivity figure that lets modest amplifier power go a long way. A 16Ω variant exists if a different load suits the cabinet design better.
Inside, a single-piece polyimide film diaphragm and surround sits on a 35mm (1.4-inch) copper clad aluminium voice coil, keeping moving mass low for the high end. The driver covers 1,500–20,000Hz and carries a 35W AES rating with 70W continuous. Celestion recommends crossing over no lower than 2,000Hz using a 12dB/octave network. Mounting is by bolt, via two M5 holes on a 52mm pitch circle diameter, and the unit is 34.5mm deep.
A screw-on version, the CDX1-1413, is available for builds that need a threaded horn connection instead of bolt fixing. The shallow 34.5mm depth and light neodymium motor keep the rear of the cabinet uncluttered, which helps in slim enclosures and line-array style boxes. Pair it with a suitable horn and a woofer crossed at 2kHz or above to build a compact two-way system.
