The legendary Eddie Van Halen’s signature delay sound has been meticulously recreated in the EVH and BOSS SDE-3000EVH Dual Digital Delay, bringing the exact spatial tones from his iconic wet/dry/wet stage rig to your pedalboard. This powerhouse processor houses two complete SDE-3000 delay units in a single floor-based pedal, faithfully recreating the vintage Roland SDE-3000 rackmount delays that remained at the core of Eddie’s sound throughout his entire career. Eight presets curated by EVH feature the precise settings from his actual delay units, allowing guitarists to access the master’s expansive delay tones directly.

Unlike the clinical precision of other 1980s digital delays, the SDE-3000 distinguished itself through its warm, musical character achieved via complex internal processing and nonlinear analog circuitry behaviours. BOSS conducted extensive analysis of these vintage characteristics, including variable frequency response, magnetic saturation in the anti-alias filter, and the evolving modulation produced by period-correct components. The result captures the complete sonic personality of this time-honoured classic while adding modern functionality including 100 user memories and carryover features.

The SDE-3000EVH provides two discrete delays with independent parameters, supporting both parallel and series configurations for stereo colours or complex rhythmic patterns. Flexible I/O accommodates various mono and stereo setups, including Eddie’s signature wet/dry/wet configuration, while an external loop enables four-cable method integration with amplifier effects loops. Three onboard footswitches control memory selection, tap tempo, delay hold and momentary engagement, with additional control jacks supporting up to four external footswitches, two expression pedals, or GA-FC units, plus TRS MIDI I/O for comprehensive real-time control far beyond the original hardware’s capabilities.
