BOSS Katana 500 Bass Amplifier Head

Professional bassists seeking uncompromising sound quality will find their match in the Katana-500 Bass Head, a compact powerhouse that combines 500 watts of precisely tuned Class D amplification with BOSS’s decades of research and development. The revolutionary Cab Resonance feature sets this amplifier apart by automatically calibrating its reactive output stage to match the unique impedance curve and frequency response of any connected speaker cabinet. Through sophisticated analysis of factors including lowest frequency response and high-end resonances, this proprietary technology dynamically optimises the output for superior feel, powerful low-end response, and exceptional overall clarity.

Sound shaping capabilities are extensive, featuring a four-band active EQ with selectable low-mid and high-mid frequency options, plus dedicated Bottom and Hi Cut controls for stage-specific optimisation. The Shape button provides instant access to mid-scoop, bright, and wide-range voicing curves, while Amp Feel settings offer Modern and Vintage characteristics to suit different playing styles. Additional refinement comes through selectable Comp and Drive types, three bass-tuned effects, and a Blend control for mixing direct bass signal to maintain clarity.

Connectivity options cater to every performance scenario, with dual locking speaker outputs supporting high-current operation and an XLR line output offering direct, pre, or post signal routing to house PA systems. The front panel provides control over line output voicing through three mic’d speaker emulation presets and custom settings. BOSS Tone Studio software expands the possibilities further, providing access to over 60 BOSS effects and comprehensive parameter editing, while optional GA-FC foot controllers and Bluetooth® Audio MIDI Dual Adaptor add wireless control and audio streaming capabilities.
