For over thirty years, the DD-3 has remained the trusted delay pedal choice for guitarists worldwide, and now the DD-3T builds upon this legendary foundation with modern enhancements that today's players demand. Based on the groundbreaking DD-2 from 1983the world's first digital delay pedalthis updated version maintains the warm, round delay tone and straightforward controls that made the original so beloved. The sound circuitry remains identical to the classic DD-3, ensuring that signature vibe stays intact.
The standout addition is tap tempo functionality, crucial for creating rhythmic delay effects across various guitar styles. Players can hold the pedal switch for two seconds to toggle between bypass and tap operation, or connect an external footswitch for on-demand tap control. When using tap input, the pedal provides up to 800ms of delay time, with the Mode knob setting tap subdivisions including quarter-note triplet, dotted-eighth note, or quarter note options.
Connectivity has been improved with the direct output jack repositioned alongside the main output for easier cable management. Plugging into the direct out converts the main output to delay-only signal, allowing wet and dry sounds to be sent to separate amplifiers for expansive stereo effects. The pedal also includes the Short Loop function (previously called Hold on the original DD-3), which captures sounds up to 800ms long for continuous playbacka feature that helped inspire the live looping movement that BOSS later developed into their Loop Station series.
