Blackmagic Design's DeckLink 8K Pro G2 is a PCIe capture and playback card engineered for professional broadcast and cinema workflows. Four bi-directional 12G-SDI connections handle SD through 8K video formats with full support for single, dual-link and quad-link configurations. This card delivers true multi-channel I/O, enabling simultaneous capture and playback of up to four independent video streams at any frame rate up to 4K DCI 60p or 8K at 60p.
The 8K Pro G2 supports 8, 10 and 12-bit colour precision across RGB 4:4:4 and YUV 4:2:2 sampling with full Rec. 2020 colour space. HDMI 2.1 connectivity adds display flexibility, while SDI paths embed up to 64 channels of audio in 4K/8K modes. DaVinci Resolve, Media Express, and the free DeckLink SDK ship included; the card integrates with Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere Pro, Avid Media Composer, and Steinberg Nuendo. Firmware updates load automatically via the driver at system boot, keeping the hardware current without manual intervention.
The card requires two PCIe slots in an 8, 16 or 32-lane PCI Express Gen 3 system and draws 30 watts. It handles HDR workflows with HLG and PQ transfer characteristics, plus Dolby Vision support on HDMI through 4K DCI 60p. Complex post-production pipelines involving high frame-rate 4K work, 8K mastering, or multi-stream live capture benefit from this card's low-latency routing and hardware-based colour space conversion on output.
