Behringer's UB-1 brings genuine analogue synthesis into a pocket–sized format, powered by the same 3396/3397 chip architecture that defined the Oberheim Matrix 6 and 1000 generations ago. The dual digitally controlled oscillators and four–pole filter form a compact signal path designed for exploratory sound design, while 16 velocity–sensitive keys deliver responsive, playable performance from a device that weighs almost nothing.
The synth ships with 32 programmed patches and genuine parameter editing depth: dual envelope generators modulate the VCF and VCA independently, whilst two LFOs can modulate filter and oscillator pitch in real–time. Six dedicated function buttons and an OLED display enable immediate parameter adjustment without menu diving. USB Type–C provides power from smartphones, power banks, or computers; full USB and MIDI implementation includes continuous controller mapping across all parameters plus bulk save/load via the SynthTribe application, accessible on Mac and Windows platforms.
An arpeggiator with three selectable patterns and hold function rounds out the toolkit, transforming simple melodies into rhythmic textures and sequences suitable for live looping, recording overdubs, or standalone portable performance.
