At its core, the 960 functions as an 8-step sequencer featuring three rows of CV controls for precise pitch adjustment at each stage, with a ninth step available to halt the sequence entirely. The unit becomes significantly more powerful when paired with a Behringer 962 SEQUENTIAL SWITCH, expanding your sequencing capabilities from 8 steps to an impressive 24 steps for creating complex, intricate musical patterns and rhythmic structures.

Creative control comes through the Stage Mode switches, which offer Normal operation for standard progression, Skip mode to bypass specific stages, or Stop to freeze the sequence at any point. Manual triggering is possible via the Set buttons for each stage, allowing you to craft unique rhythmic variations – such as setting the sequencer to skip alternate stages for distinctive staccato effects that add character to your compositions.

The integrated oscillator section provides additional sonic flexibility with its Frequency Range and Frequency Vernier controls for coarse and fine pitch adjustment respectively. Manual on/off control is available through dedicated buttons, while external gate signals can automate the oscillator’s operation. A control input expands the module’s versatility by accepting CV from other modules to modulate the oscillator frequency in real-time.
