The SCX1 stands as a testament to precision engineering in professional audio, offering studio-grade performance across recording, broadcast, and live sound environments. This cardioid condenser microphone combines high sensitivity with pin-point accuracy and maintains exceptional consistency throughout its wide frequency response range of 40 Hz to 20 kHz. The microphone's smooth uniform response handles both on and off-axis signals with remarkable phase coherence whilst minimising proximity effect, making it particularly suited to capturing overhead drums, orchestral sections, stringed instruments, piano, vibes, and ambient room tones.

Available in three distinct polar patterns, the standard SCX1 features a wide cardioid pattern, whilst the SCX1HC offers hypercardioid characteristics ideal for hi-hat miking applications, and the SCX1O provides omnidirectional pickup. The SCX1HC has gained particular recognition for interior dialogue work on boom poles, demonstrating the microphone's adaptability across different professional applications. Each variant maintains the same core specifications, including the ability to handle sound pressure levels up to 130 dB and provide up to 20 dB of ambient noise rejection.

Built around a 21 mm gold vapour capsule with miniaturised electronics housed in a precision-machined brass body, the SCX1 maintains an extremely compact footprint without compromising performance. The microphone features interchangeable capsules, a black multi-layer class 'A' liquid finish, and gold-plated XLR connectivity. Beyond acoustic instruments, the SCX1 proves equally capable for group vocals, speech applications, and Foley work, all whilst maintaining the exacting standards and tight tolerances expected from Audix's USA-based design, machining, assembly, and testing processes.
