Arturia MicroFreak Experimental Hybrid Synth (Vocoder Edition)

The Arturia MicroFreak Vocoder Edition brings a 16-band vocoder to the already unruly MicroFreak platform, wrapped in a limited-edition white finish with a bold Swan graphic across the control panel. A detachable gooseneck microphone connects straight into the headphone socket via 3.5mm TRRS, letting players sing, speak or feed external instruments through the vocoder engine in real time. Sixteen colourful presets and a new Vocoder mode sit alongside the synth's existing arsenal of digital and wavetable oscillators, analog filters and a freaky arpeggiator and sequencer.

The Vocoder engine itself runs three waveforms – sawtooth, pulse width and noise – with Timbre and Shape knobs shaping the 16 frequency bands that detect and replicate vocal harmonics. The gooseneck mic's utility menu allows adjustable gain and noise gate settings, while the same TRRS input accepts drum machines, guitars or full mixes for glitchy formant processing. Beneath the vocoder sits the standard MicroFreak engine, including a poly-aftertouch PCB keyboard, an erratic mod matrix and the Spice & Dice randomizers for instant pattern variation.
