Yamaha's CXS15mk3 is the middle option in their current passive subwoofer range, engineered to pair seamlessly with the matching CXR mk3 loudspeaker series. The 15" cone driver benefits from Yamaha's proprietary high-durability transducer design, producing tight, articulate low-end extension without the boom or cabinet rattle that plagues cheaper alternatives. The bandpass enclosure geometry actively suppresses unwanted resonances, allowing the sub to integrate cleanly into live PA rigs, studio monitoring setups, and large rehearsal spaces.
Construction centres on a braced plywood cabinet tuned for acoustic transparency rather than pure output volume. The driver pairs a 3" voice coil with a 15" woofer cone, striking a balance between impact and control across the sub's operating range. Connectivity is handled via dual pole sockets in M20 and Ø35 mm formats, accommodating both standard and heavy-duty speaker cable terminations. The enclosure doesn't include wheels or covering as standard, though optional accessories—the SPW-1 wheel kit and SPCVR-DXS153 protective cover—are available separately for transport and weather protection.
