The sE Voodoo Ribbon VR1 breaks new ground in ribbon microphone technology, achieving something previously thought impossible - full 20Hz-20KHz frequency response through revolutionary mechanical innovation rather than complex electronics. While sE's acclaimed RNR1 collaboration with Rupert Neve required state-of-the-art transformers and custom circuitry to capture those elusive high frequencies, the Voodoo range accomplishes this feat using a patent-pending mechanical device designed by company CEO Siwei Zou.
This breakthrough allows the traditional ribbon capsule to capture the complete frequency spectrum like no other ribbon microphone on the market. The VR1 brings that classic ribbon character to project and commercial studios, extending its performance to rival most condenser microphones while maintaining the natural, open sound ribbons are renowned for. The result is exceptionally detailed recordings of acoustic instruments and guitar cabinets with that distinctive ribbon warmth.
As the passive version of the VR2 active ribbon mic, the VR1 combines cutting-edge performance with striking aesthetics. Key specifications include a 2µ aluminium ribbon diaphragm, figure-8 polar pattern, and impressive 135dB maximum SPL handling. With its 20Hz-18KHz frequency response, 1.6mV/Pa sensitivity, and ≤300 Ohms impedance, the VR1 represents a significant leap forward in ribbon microphone design that's destined to become a studio classic.
