RME 12Mic 12-Channel Digitally Controlled Mic Preamp w/ AVB & MADI

The RME 12Mic redefines professional recording with twelve channels of remote-controllable microphone preamps, studio-quality A/D conversion, and integrated AVB and MADI connectivity all housed in a single, comprehensive unit. This powerhouse features PAD-free microphone input stages with an impressive 75 dB gain range that can handle signals up to +18 dBu, while maintaining an outstanding signal-to-noise ratio across all channels. The front-facing XLR connections accommodate both microphone and line level signals, with the first four inputs also accepting TRS connectors and offering switchable high impedance (Hi-Z) for direct instrument connection.

Connectivity options are extensive, with both coaxial and optical MADI I/O available through SFP modules for independent or redundant operation, perfect for daisy chaining, merging and converting MADI signals at incredibly low latency. Three optical ADAT outputs provide up to 24 channels of audio at single speed or 12 channels at 96 kHz sampling rates, maintaining compatibility with a broad range of audio interfaces. The ADAT ports can also route monitor mixes from AVB or MADI inputs directly to existing DACs and headphone amplifiers.

RME’s first AVB device features two fully redundant network ports based on MILAN recommendations, with the AVB Core implementing IEEE standards for audio streaming, discovery and control. This allows any AVB controller to discover and fully control RME devices, eliminating the need for vendor-specific protocols. All device states can be controlled directly from the front panel, while the web interface enables remote control via any network connection, including wireless Wi-Fi access for creating gain groups, switching phantom power, and routing signals for monitoring.

At the heart of the 12Mic lies RME’s SteadyClock FS technology, providing exceptional jitter performance and immunity for optimal clock stability. This ensures digital format conversion occurs without loss or degradation, maintaining the sonic integrity of your recordings and mixes with enhanced soundstage depth and clarity. The integrated routing matrix allows quick routing of analogue inputs to headphone outputs alongside all digital signals and AVB streams, making troubleshooting and signal management straightforward and efficient.
