The MiniFreak tears up the synthesizer rulebook by fusing dual digital sound engines with analogue filters in a polyphonic hybrid that delivers sounds ranging from beautifully curious to delightfully chaotic. This 6-voice powerhouse features 22 oscillator modes across two engines, where Engine 2 can process Engine 1's output for stacked sonic interplay, while polyphonic analogue filters and VCAs shape your sound with warmth and character. The 37-note velocity-sensitive Slim-key keybed with aftertouch responds to every nuance of your playing, supported by multiple voice configurations including 6-voice polyphonic, 12-voice paraphonic, unison, or mono modes.

Modulation possibilities are virtually limitless thanks to twin LFOs per voice, polyphonic cycling envelopes, and customisable LFO shapes that can animate your sound engines, filters, effects, and even modulate the modulation sources themselves. The intuitive Mod Matrix connects 7 sources to 13 destinations, while the 64-step sequencer offers 4 lanes of automated modulation with performance features like ratchets, octave randomisation, and the signature Spice & Dice function for creative pattern mutations.

Three digital FX slots provide 10 curated algorithms each, from hypnotic chorus to brutal distortion and immersive 3D-like atmosphere, all processed through stereo outputs for mix-ready patches. The included VST counterpart delivers the same hybrid sound in your DAW with preset compatibility between hardware and software, while 256 factory presets from world-class sound designers provide immediate inspiration alongside 256 user preset slots for your own creations.

MiniFreak's free 5.0 firmware update opens the synth to outside audio, adding sample and wavetable import to its hybrid engine. Custom .wav, .aiff, and .flac recordings can be loaded and reshaped through the sample-based and granular engines, while mono wavetables bring fresh harmonic material to the Wavetable engine. A bonus bank of 23 new presets showcases the added sample and wavetable content, extending an already deep well of sound design options without costing a cent.
